Why does my ipod touch play music randomly?

So i listen to music and then i turn the music off as i have been doing the same way for over a year, and randomly a week ago at night it starts playing and it happens every night. I got new skull candy FMJ earbuds 2 weeks ago and i think that might be the problem. If not please let me know and please tell me how to fix this.
